As the floodwaters began to rise, desperate individuals did indeed attempt to break into the ark, but the structure was so firmly built that it resisted all their efforts. Prior to the rain, crowds had gathered around the vessel to mock and deride Noah with daring violence, but they did not believe his message until it was too late. Once God closed the door, it became impossible for anyone else to enter, regardless of their attempts to force their way in or cling to the exterior.
