What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "Did Peter have the gift of speaking in tongues?"
Answer
Based on the provided sources, Peter received and manifested the gift of speaking in tongues on the day of Pentecost, along with the other disciples, when he immediately quoted the prophetic prediction of Joel. Waggoner additionally points out that Peter's promise of the gift of the Holy Spirit included exactly the same gifts that Joel prophesied, which clarifies the direct connection between Peter's word and the experience of speaking in tongues.
Quotes
»Tongues like as of fire sat upon each of the disciples; they were filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues.«
»Therefore the gift of the Holy Spirit which Peter promised to the recipients of the gospel is the exact counterpart of the signs which the Holy One said should follow them that believe on him. And this belonged to the promise which Joel prophesied, as quoted by Peter: “Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,” and, “on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit.” And Agabus was a prophet; the evangelist Philip had four daughters who had the gift of prophecy. This corresponded to the promise which Joel prophesied, as quoted by Peter.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
