Adventistische Schriften über: "Devotion for the congregation that rarely comes to church"
Answer
Regular fellowship with other believers is essential to keep the faith alive and to counter spiritual indifference. When we distance ourselves from fellowship, divine truths often lose significance in our thinking, and worldly concerns take the place of spiritual matters.
It is an important privilege to gather where Jesus has promised His presence, even if it requires sacrifice. The power of faith is strengthened through sharing and communal prayer, while isolation carries the danger of spiritual energy waning.
The Importance of Coming Together for Faith
»It is no small matter for a family to stand as representatives of Jesus and uphold God's law within an unbelieving community. ... To live in the light, you must go where the light shines. ... It is not good for them to lose the privilege of fellowship with like‑minded believers; for truth loses its significance in their thinking, their hearts are no longer illuminated and enlivened by its holy influence, and they lose their spirituality. They are not strengthened by the words of the living preacher. Secular thoughts and worldly pursuits constantly claim their mind, excluding spiritual matters. The faith of most Christians will falter if they continually fail to meet for counsel and prayer.«
Being a Christian Means Community
»Do not abandon the gatherings, as is customary for some; rather, admonish one another, especially as you see the day drawing near. ... Never entertain the thought that you can be Christians while withdrawing into yourselves. Each individual is a part of the great tapestry of humanity, and the kind and quality of your experience is largely determined by the experiences of those with whom you associate. ... Jesus said, "Where two or three are gathered in My name, there I am among them." Can you afford to choose your own pleasure and miss the blessing?«
Danger of Spiritual Stagnation
»The frailty of death hangs over many who profess Christ. Do everything you can to rouse them. Warn, plead, admonish. Pray that God's melting love may warm and soften their ice‑bound natures. ... In the effort to bless others, your own soul will be blessed.«
God Does Not Perform Unnecessary Miracles
»If it were impossible for them to enjoy such religious privileges, God would send light directly from heaven through His angels to revive, comfort, and bless His scattered people. But He does not intend to perform a miracle to preserve the faith of His saints. They are required to love the truth so much that they make a little effort to secure the privileges and blessings that God has granted them.«
