What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "Delve into the KJV Book of Revelation and explain its purpose for Christians in that era and the promise of blessing for those who read it."

Answer

The Book of Revelation was given to provide early Christians, amidst persecution and pagan darkness, with comfort, guidance, and the assurance of Christ's victory, as well as to prepare them for future trials. At the same time, the book pronounces an explicit promise of blessing over those who read the words of this prophecy, hear them, and preserve what is written therein. This divine assurance is intended to encourage believers of all ages to study the revealed truths carefully and to apply them in practical life.

Purpose of Revelation and the Promise of Blessing

»In images and symbols, John was presented with themes of great significance that he was to record, so that God's people, living in his age and in future ages, might have a clear understanding of the dangers and conflicts before them. This revelation was given as guidance and comfort to the church throughout the entire Christian age. [...] It is “the Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants what is about to happen soon.” “Blessed is the one who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy and keep what is written in it; for the time is near.”«

Comfort for the Suffering and Preparation for Trials

»For seventy years he had been a witness to the victories and trials of Christianity, and now he lovingly rebuked or praised his fellow sufferers to prepare them for the upcoming trials and assure them of the final victory. [...] It reveals the future and comforts both the sufferers under Domitian and those of subsequent ages, by predicting the course of both political and ecclesiastical kingdoms, the apostasy in the church, the revival of truth, and the glorious final triumph of Christ and righteousness.«

Encouragement of the Early Christians in Their Distress

»...but the historicist sees that the Revelation’s primary task was to counsel and encourage the early Christians in the changing circumstances they experienced, while simultaneously extending its prophetic images beyond their perspective to the final victory. Otherwise, its depiction of the Second Coming, judgment, and the Kingdom of God would have no relevance for our time. The Apocalypse was primarily addressed to seven actual contemporary churches, likely chosen because of their character as representatives of the universal church of all ages.«

The Pronounced Blessing over the Reader and Hearer

»God gave the Book of Revelation a title that distinguishes it from any other book of the Bible and indicates that it is open to all. It is the “Revelation of Jesus Christ.” He pronounced a blessing over everyone who reads it or even just hears it read aloud. “Blessed is the one who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy and keep what is written in it; for the time is near.” It is suitable for every spirit and full of selected illustrations and symbols that will not only interest the reader but also teach them.«

Conditions for Receiving the Promised Blessing

»“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants what is about to happen shortly; and He has interpreted it and sent it through His angel to His servant John, who testified to the word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ, which he saw. Blessed is the one who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy and keep what is written in it; for the time is near.” The prophet says: “Blessed is the one who reads” – there are some who do not wish to read; the blessing is not intended for them. “And those who hear” – there are also some who refuse to hear anything about the prophecies; the blessing is not for that group. “And keep what is written in it” – many refuse to heed the warnings and instructions contained in Revelation. None of these can claim the promised blessing.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
