Adventistische Schriften über: "Dealing with eating children during worship"
Answer
The house of God should never be a place where children eat at will or assert their own will, as this disturbs worship and displeases God. Parents are advised to teach their children regularity in eating habits and to avoid food between meals, as this burdens the stomach and makes children irritable. Instead, children should learn obedience and reverence at home so that they respect the worship service as a holy place of encounter with God.
Reverence in the House of God and Eating Habits
Parents should curb their children's will with patience, firmness, and determination; and when they bring them into the house of God, they should make them understand that this is not a place where they can do as they please, not a place for feasting or to display their obstinacy and passionate temperament. The worshippers in the house of God are disturbed by unruly children. God's wrath is kindled because of these things.
Regularity should be the rule in all of the children's habits. Mothers commit a great error when they allow them to eat between meals. The stomach is upset by this practice, and the foundation for future suffering is laid. ... She gives the little sufferer a piece of cake or another treat to soothe them, but this only enlarges the evil.
When you bring your children into the house of God, they should learn to understand that they are there where God meets His people. ... Parents, you have a task to fulfill. Tame your children at home, and then you can lead them in the house of God.
One should teach the child to regard the hour and place of prayer as well as public worship services as holy, because God is there. And when reverence manifests in posture and demeanor, the feeling it inspires will be deepened.
If the children cannot be restrained ... the child should be removed from the church immediately; they should not be left to distract the thoughts of the listeners by talking or wandering. God is dishonored by the lax manner in which parents lead their children in the church.
