God promises His children abundant blessing when they faithfully return tithes and offerings to Him, thereby acknowledging His care. These gifts should be offered from a grateful and joyful heart, because withholding rightful portions not only hinders God's work but also limits personal blessing. When people do their part in trust, God fulfills His promise to cause their work to prosper and to make their souls like a watered garden.
God's Promise with Faithfulness
“If all tithes were brought into the storehouse, God’s treasury would not be empty. ‘Bring me the whole tithe into My storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and test Me in this,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘that I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour out blessing, that there will not be enough room to receive it.’ When a person does his part, God never fails to fulfill His promises.”
Blessing in Relation to Obedience
“Whenever God’s people at any time in the world have joyfully and willingly carried out His plan in systematic charity as well as in gifts and sacrifices, they recognized the firm promise that prosperity should accompany all their efforts, exactly to the extent that they obeyed His requirements. When they acknowledged God’s claims and met His requirements by honoring Him with their possessions, their barns were filled with abundance.”
