Adventistische Schriften über: "Biblical principles for the use of the tithe in cases of administrative misconduct"
Answer
The tithe is holy and reserved for the support of the preaching ministry. Even if believers are dissatisfied with the administration or leadership of the work, this does not entitle them to withhold or misuse the tithe, as this is considered robbery from God. Instead of ceasing faithful giving, complaints should be presented openly and in the right spirit to the responsible parties in order to correct the problems.
Faithfulness despite inadequate management
»Some were dissatisfied and said, “I will no longer pay my tithe, for I have no confidence in the way things are being directed at the center of the work.” But will you rob God because you think the work’s leadership is not right? Bring your complaint openly and in the right spirit before the responsible persons. Submit your petitions so that matters may be adjusted and set right; but do not withdraw from God’s work and do not prove yourselves unfaithful because others are not doing what is right.«
Prohibition of unilateral use of the tithe
»No one should feel free to retain their tithe in order to use it at their own discretion. They may not use it for themselves in an emergency, nor apply it as they see fit, even in what they may consider the Lord’s work. ... He [the preacher] should not give his influence to plans that divert the tithe and God‑dedicated gifts from their rightful use. They are to be placed in His treasury and kept holy for His service, as He has ordained.«
Examination and transparency in administration
»Do not allow any accountant to work according to his own ideas without seeking counsel from others. At set intervals, the accounting books in every association, every society, and every institution connected with our cause should be carefully examined. ... When the records of our institutions are properly kept and carefully examined, they will reveal when debts are incurred that may be difficult to pay. ... It should always be remembered that it is the Lord’s money being handled in our institutions.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
