In the historic Adventist writings it is emphasized that the time is almost up and new believers must learn in a few months what others needed years for. The messages urgently call for preparation, as the grace period is ending soon and a holy life before God is necessary. In view of the short remaining time, there is a call to convey the truth to others without delay.
Rapid Learning in the End Times
Some of us had time to receive the truth and to progress step by step, and each step we took gave us strength for the next. But now the time is almost up, and what we learned over years, they will have to learn in a few months. They will also have much to unlearn and much new to learn.
Urgent Call to Preparation
In a vision on June 27, 1850 my accompanying angel said, 'The time is almost up. Are you reflecting the lovely image of Jesus as you should?' Then I was directed to the earth and saw that preparation must take place among those who have only recently accepted the third angelic message. The angel said, 'Make yourselves ready, make yourselves ready, make yourselves ready. You will have to die a greater death before the world than you ever have.' I saw that there was a great work for them to do and only little time to accomplish it.
The Certainty of the Near Time
Now, my dear reader, be assured that there will be no failure here. Tell us no more about 'setting the time.' We have not set a time. God has set the time. And this time, O lost sinner, this time is short. Consider that within six short months, or at most eighteen, you will be with the redeemed in glory or with all the damned in eternal torment.
Perseverance Despite Uncertainty
We now look forward with unshakable faith, that we have read our Bibles correctly and stand at the threshold of time. We believe our calculation is correct; but if it should differ by a few months, we will continue to work, watch, and pray until heaven reveals the One who is coming.
Short Remaining Working Time
The end is near, it creeps silently toward us, unnoticed, like the soundless approach of a thief in the night. ... The time is short; the night is coming soon, in which no one can act any longer. Let those who rejoice in the light of the present truth now hurry to share the truth with others.
