Ellen White's books, such as "The Desire of Ages" (The Desire of Ages) or "The Great Controversy" (The Great Controversy), are, according to her own understanding and Adventist doctrine, inspired by the Holy Spirit. She expressly emphasized that the Holy Spirit impressed these truths upon her heart and mind, and she wrote these messages under divine guidance. Even though she used human words and historical sources for description, she did not see herself as the author of the message, but as a messenger of God.
