Adventistische Schriften über: "All biblical passages that show an investigative judgment in heaven before the Second Coming, especially Daniel 7, Daniel 8, Revelation 14, the heavenly sanctuary, the books of judgment, and Christ's high priestly ministry."

Answer

Holy Scripture presents the investigative judgment before Christ’s return through several central prophetic and typological passages: In Daniel 7 the Son of Man appears before the "Ancient of Days," judgment is held and the books are opened. Daniel 8:14 announces the cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary after the 2,300 days, which corresponds to the high‑priestly ministry on the great day of atonement when the sins of believers are removed. Revelation 14:6‑7 finally proclaims to the world the beginning of this judgment before the Lord’s second coming with the call: "The hour of His judgment has come."

The Judgment Scene in Daniel 7 and the High‑Priestly Ministry

»So the prophet was shown in the vision that great and solemn day when the characters and lives of people would be examined before the Judge of the whole earth and each person would be rewarded "according to his works"... The Ancient of Days is God the Father... And holy angels, as servants and witnesses in a number of "ten thousand times ten thousand and a thousand times a thousand," take part in this great courtroom. "And behold, one came with the clouds of heaven like a Son of Man and approached the Ancient of Days and was presented before Him."... The coming of Christ described here is not His second coming to earth. He comes to the Ancient of Days in heaven to receive rule, honor, and a kingdom that will be handed to Him at the end of His ministry as Mediator. It is this coming... that was prophetically foretold to occur at the end of the 2,300 days in the year 1844. Accompanied by heavenly angels, our great High Priest enters the Most Holy Place and appears there in the presence of God to carry out the final acts of His ministry for humanity—performing the work of the investigative judgment and securing reconciliation for all who are found worthy of His blessings.«

The Cleansing of the Sanctuary and the Judgment Proclamation in Revelation 14

»In the typological system—a shadow of the sacrifice and priesthood of Christ—the cleansing of the sanctuary was the final service performed by the High Priest in the annual service cycle. It was the concluding work of atonement—a removal or taking away of Israel’s sin. It illustrated the final work in the ministry of our High Priest in heaven, the erasing of the sins of His people that are recorded in the heavenly books. This service includes a work of investigation, a work of judgment; and it directly precedes Christ’s coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory, for when He comes every case is decided... This work of judgment is what immediately precedes the second Advent and is proclaimed in the first angelic message of Revelation 14: "Fear God and give Him glory; for the hour of His judgment has come.«

The Heavenly Books of Judgment

»The record books in heaven, in which the names and deeds of people are written, determine the judgments’ decisions. The prophet Daniel says, "The judgment sat down and the books were opened." The writer of Revelation adds, describing the same scene: "And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life; and the dead were judged according to what is written in the books, according to their works." The Book of Life contains the names of all who have ever entered God’s service... Daniel, who looked ahead to a "time of trouble such as never was," explains that God’s people will be saved, "everyone who is found written in the book.«

The Necessity of the Investigative Judgment before the Resurrection

»“And I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, who had an everlasting gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on earth, to all nations, peoples, languages, and tribes, and he cried with a loud voice: Fear God and give Him glory; for the hour of His judgment has come!” Revelation 14:6‑7. NOTE: – It becomes evident that the Scriptures present two phases of judgment—the investigative and the executing judgment. The investigative judgment takes place in heaven before Christ returns, to determine who is worthy to be raised at His coming in the first resurrection, and who among the living is deemed "worthy" to be transformed at the sounding of the last trumpet in "an instant, in a moment." Therefore, it is necessary that the investigative judgment occur before the second Advent...«

The Examination of Life Records before the Father

»In the cleansing of the sanctuary we find precisely the time and place for this preparatory or investigative work of judgment. It is within the nature of Christ’s ministry at this time to remove sin and thereby decide who is righteous. This includes an examination of the record books that contain the deeds of each person’s life; for every judgment is rendered according to the works recorded in the books of each individual. Thus we read in the report of the opening of this scene in the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary, as given in Daniel 7:9‑10, that "the judgment sat down and the books were opened." This occurs before Christ’s coming... Here the Son of Man is brought before the Ancient of Days and receives His kingdom...«
