What does Ellen White write about...

Ellen Gould White über: "Accept his merit in faith and rely on him completely. How do I put this into practice??"

Answer

To receive Christ's merits in faith, we must let go of the notion that we can contribute to our salvation by our own efforts or worthiness. In practice this means involving Jesus as a personal friend and counselor in all areas of life, entrusting Him with our sins and difficulties in prayer, and completely yielding to His guidance. It is a daily process in which we subordinate our will to His will and firmly trust that His grace alone is sufficient for our salvation.

The Hand that Grabs Christ's Merits

»Faith is trust in God—the trust that He loves us and knows best what is good for us. Thus He leads us to choose His way instead of our own. In place of our ignorance He offers His wisdom; in place of our weakness His strength; in place of our sinfulness His righteousness. Our lives, we ourselves, already belong to Him; faith acknowledges His ownership and receives its blessing. ... He is the hand with which we grasp Christ and appropriate His merits.«

Prayer and Trust in Daily Life

»We speak with Jesus Christ as we go on our way, and He says, "I am at your right hand." We can walk in daily fellowship with Christ. When we voice our desire, it may be unheard by any human ear, but that word cannot pass into silence or be lost... It is God to whom we speak, and the prayer is heard. Therefore ask; "Ask, and it will be given to you.«

Complete Surrender to Christ's Guidance

»True, saving faith ... is the act of the soul by which the whole person is handed over to the care and control of Jesus Christ. He remains in Christ and Christ remains, through faith, as the Highest in the soul. The believer entrusts his soul and his body to God and can say with certainty: Christ is able to preserve what I have entrusted to Him for that day.«

Turning Away from Oneself

»We must not think that our own grace and our merits will save us; Christ's grace is our only hope of redemption. ... We look at ourselves as if we had the power to save ourselves; but Jesus died for us because we are helpless to do so. In Him is our hope, our justification, our righteousness. ... We do not honor Him through our unbelief.«

Daily Surrender of the Will

»Daily he seeks the Lord for grace, and he is strengthened and supported. The self once ruled in his heart, and worldly pleasure was his joy. Now the self is dethroned, and God reigns sovereignly. ... In his conversion and sanctification the person must cooperate with God. ... Man cannot transform himself by exercising his own will. He possesses no power by which this change could be effected. The renewing energy must come from God.«

Relying on the Promises

»If we make God our dependence and ask Him for what we want, like a little child asks its father for what it desires, we will have a rich experience. ... He wants us to become confident with Him, to speak with Him, to tell Him of our difficulties, and to gain an experience in asking the One who never judges wrongly and never makes a mistake.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
