Ellen Gould White über: "About Revelation 6:13"
Answer
The writings of Ellen G. White indicate that the words of Revelation 6:13 – in which the stars of heaven are described as falling – are to be interpreted both as a biblical prophecy and as a historical sign of the second coming of Christ. She explicitly links the biblical image with the spectacular meteor shower of 1833 and calls this event the "last of the signs" that Jesus himself had announced as a harbinger of his return. For White, this natural phenomenon fulfills the prophetic statements of the Old and New Testaments and serves as a warning reminder of the nearness of the final judgment.
Revelation 6:13 in "Testimonies for the Church," Volume 9
"And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; and the stars of heaven fell upon the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind." – Ellen Gould White ,Testimonies for the Church, vol. 9 ,9T 267.2 ,115.1506
Ellen White’s explanation of the fulfillment of Revelation 6:13 in "The Great Controversy"
"In 1833, two years after Miller had begun to present publicly the evidence for the soon coming of Christ, the last of the signs which Jesus had promised as a token of his second advent appeared. He said, 'The stars shall fall from heaven.' And John, in the Revelation, as he looked forward to the scenes that should herald the day of God, declared, 'The stars of heaven fell upon the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.' This prophecy found a striking fulfillment in the great meteor shower of November 13, 1833, the most extensive and marvelous display of falling stars that has ever been recorded." – Ellen Gould White ,The Great Controversy ,GC 333.1 ,132.1518
