What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "2 Cor 1:8: What exactly was it about? Ephesus?"

Answer

In relation to the affliction experienced in Asia (2 Corinthians 1:8), the writings indicate that the apostle Paul's ministry in Ephesus was a period of incessant labor, deep trials and anguish, aggravated by the constant opposition of the Jews. The crisis reached a critical point during the violent turmoil in the city of Ephesus, where his life was in grave danger before being providentially delivered. To these physical dangers and the continual exposure to death was added the overwhelming emotional and spiritual burden he bore for the welfare of all the churches.

The trials, the turmoil and the mortal dangers of Paul in Ephesus

»The heart of Paul was filled with gratitude to God because his life had been preserved and because Christianity had not been discredited by the turmoil in Ephesus... Paul's labors in Ephesus concluded. His ministry there had been a period of incessant work, many trials, and deep anguish. He had taught the people publicly and house to house, instructing and warning them with many tears. The Jews continually opposed him, never missing an opportunity to stir popular sentiment against him. And while he thus struggled against the opposition, driving the work of the gospel with tireless zeal and watching over the interests of a still young church in the faith, Paul bore on his soul a heavy burden for all the churches... Whippings and imprisonments, cold, hunger and thirst, dangers on land and at sea, in the city and in the desert, from his own compatriots, from the Gentiles and from false brethren: he endured all this for the sake of the gospel. He was “defamed,” “slandered,” made “the scum of all things,” “perplexed,” “persecuted,” “afflicted in everything,” “in danger at all times,” “always delivered to death for the love of Jesus.”«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
