Answer
After their fall, Adam and Eve initially tried to make a covering for themselves, since the light garment that had enveloped them like angels had disappeared. However, as the atmosphere became unstable and they were now exposed to frost and heat, God mercifully intervened. He himself finally clothed them with garments of skins to protect them from the extreme temperature influences of the cursed earth.
God's Care after the Fall
»After his transgression, Adam first imagined that he would enter a higher state of existence. But soon the thought of his sin filled him with terror. The air, which had previously been mild and of even temperature, seemed to make the guilty pair shiver. The light garment that had enveloped them now disappeared, and to replace it they endeavored to make a covering for themselves; for in their unclothed state they could not meet the gaze of God and the holy angels.«
»In humility and unspeakable sorrow, Adam and Eve left the lovely garden where they had been so happy until they became disobedient to God's command. The atmosphere changed. God clothed them with skirts of skins to protect them from the feeling of cold and then heat to which they were exposed.«
